Eurasier Breed Information

Group 7: Non Sporting

Energy Level: Moderate

Original Function: sled dog

Temperament: Self assured, calm, even tempered with high resistance to provocation. Watchful and alert without being noisy.

Recommended for: Most people/Families

Lifespan: 10 - 14 years


Dogs 5260 cm.

Bitches 48 56 cm [19 22 ins.]

Colour: Any colour or colour combinations, except pure white, white patches or liver colour.

Coat: All over the body is a thick undercoat and medium length, loosely lying, guard hairs. Short coat on muzzle, face, ears and front of legs. Tail, back of front legs, (feathering) and hind legs (breeches) covered with long hair. Coat on neck only slightly longer than on body, not forming a mane.

General Appearance: Balanced, well constructed, medium sized dog of Spitz type with prick ears and coat in varied colours. Length of coat should be such as to still reveal the body proportions. Medium bone. Dark eyes & erect ears. Tail long, bushy, curled & carried over the back.



In Germany, in the 1960's a breed was evolved by crossing a Chow Chow and a Wolfspitz. This was first called "Wolf-Chow" and then, after crossing with a Samoyed, was re-named "Eurasier" (Eurasian).
They have an even temperament, very self assured and calm. They are watchful and alert without being noisy. They develop a very strong bond with their family. Can be reserved towards strangers without being aggressive. They need constant contact with their families very much a companion dog and consistent training.

Grooming- regular brushing is needed and a little extra care when the coat sheds. Bath when needed.

Exercise- regular walks and runs are needed to keep them fit and happy.
