The Mini Foxie were popular in Australia as far back as the 1800's. They were initially a rural breed, popular for their hunting skills as well as alerting their owners to strangers. They became more popular in urban areas around the 1900's as more people became aware of the qualities of these wonderful little dogs. They make great pets because of their adaptability. They can go from bubbly little dogs playing with the children to a couch-potato happily curled up beside you. They are loyal and very protective of their territory and their owners.

Grooming- A low maintenance dog. With their short coat bathing and brushing need rarely be done. Nails need to be clipped regularly.

Exercise- They loved to be walked but need to know you are in control. If you have a large backyard they don't need much walking although small yard and flat dwellers need at least 20-30 minutes per day. They love playing with balls and other throw toys so a romp in the park is great.

Health- Luxating Patella (slipping kneecap) can occur in small breeds and surgery is expensive. To eliminate this problem the Mini Foxie Club screens all its breeding dogs and only approved dogs can be registered for breeding. Pups bred from these approved dogs can be purchased from breeders who are registered with the Mini Foxie Club of Australia Inc (MFCA)
