BEAWARE - Dogs Stolen for Dog fighting ring in Qld - Targeting Siberian
Huskys & Alaskan Malamutes
Permission to post.
The e-mails below were posted on another list , they are very relevant
and worth reading.
In addition, this young boys family was home when the dog got stolen,
as it was early in the morning (about 5.30am), they waited till
the father left for work then broke in between that and them getting
up, so these people are doing literally anything to get dogs!
Please inform anyone around the Beaudesert, Logan shires or close
to them. Everyone needs to know.
In addition to what Sheri posted.
Please note this is occurring
in Sth East QLD, I'm sure it happens elsewhere
however at the moment in the Sth East of QLD its Siberians and Mal's
being
targeted for bait. Some of these gangs being based at the Gold Coast
but
are travelling further afield to find there 'bait'.
It is very very scary and absolutely
sickening to the core.
One young autistic boys pet was
stolen on the w'end, his family owns another
Siberian which was left...OLDER...so obviously didn't make 'good
bait'.
Now these dogs were secured. These
sick p#icks actually had to break this
child's dog out to steal it.
This child is beside themself,
just wanting his dog back. Trying to explain
this to a normal child let alone a autistic one is a living nightmare
for
his parents.
These gangs will stop at absolutely
nothing.
If you only have a couple of dogs
and your not at home, put them indoors.
These a'holes are casing Siberians
and their owners...so watch walking your
dogs as well and take notice of anyone taking 'extra' interest.
For those with puppy sales...vet
your buyers with a fine tooth comb.
Those who have sold dogs to Sth
East QLD, please advise your buyers as soon
as possible to protect their animals. These are people who are not
on lists
and need to be advised.
I'm not in QLD, but if anyone
can let the shelters know as well, that would
be good. If it saves just one of these sheltered dogs being collected
by
someone involved in this activity, we have at least saved one Siberian/Mal
from dying from this fate.
Lets try and get the word out
there as much as we can.
This has to be stopped, not just
for our breed but for the sake of all dogs.
I am f'ing ropable. Makes me sick
thinking about it.
Justine.
PS. Feel free to cross post.

Subject: [SPAM][AustralasianShowSiberians] DOG FIGHTING
RINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi All,
Over recent weeks there has been
some disburbing reports in regards
to Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes being stolen for use by
organised dog fighting rings.
One of the Welfare Societies and
the RSPCA in QLD are aware of this.
In fact if memory serves me right both organisations have had to
alter their contract of sales to protect these breeds so they do
not
fall into the hands of these dog fighting rings.
This past w'end, Beaudesert Shire
had 5 Siberian Huskies stolen from
their owners homes.
The Police have been notified.
Siberians and Alaskan Malamutes
are not being used to 'fight' they
are being used for 'blooding' and 'training' these fighting animals.
Due to the heavy coats of these
breeds, the fighting animals have to
work extra hard to damage and kill.
It makes me sick to my stomach
to even write this and I am writing
this as people in these areas need to be aware to keep a eye out
on
their dogs at all times.
If you have to put your dogs inside
and suffer the Siberian Husky
damage consequences when you're away from home, thats a hell of
alot
better than having your dog stolen and used as bait for these sick
individuals to have their dogs participate in this most barbaric
and
disgusting activity.
The dogs stolen over the w'end
were much loved pets, these organised
gangs are sophisticated, they are finding their victims by whatever
means and then following them to steal at a later date.
Parents are left with the task
of having to tell their children that
their pet has been stolen, whether they tell them why or not, I
don't
know. I know I couldn't tell my daughter.
I'm not sure where the authorities
are at with all of this, however,
this has been going on now for some time and it angers me that there
has been no notification in the media regarding this.
As a collective group of Siberian
Owners/Dog Owners something needs
to be done to try and either help the authorities locate/stop these
people.
However, trust me, from what I
can ascertain they are not people that
the average Joe would want to meet on the streets, these are people
involved with other heavy criminal behaviour.
To get out to the MASSES, I think
a show like 'A Current Affair'
or 'Today Tonight' need to get their investigative reporters onto
this subject to see if they can make the situation 'Public Knowledge'.
Justine.

and the risk/benefit ratio.
This list is intended
for dog owners in Australia who are concerned about various issues
and management factors that impact on the health, wellbeing and
behavior of our dogs.
Whether your dog is the result
of selective mating or a rescued mutt is not relevant. On this list
we base ‘value’ on the unique human/dog bond that develops from
shared quality companionship.
The primary focus of this list
will be on issues such as vaccination and the risk/benefit ratio
of other commonly recommended treatments and prophylactics. However,
other topics will also be discussed and these include factors like
feeding, ‘holistic’ care, traveling and holidaying with your dog,
legislation and by-laws, boarding, socializing and training.
