Foxhound

About This Breed

The English Foxhound was developed using such breeds as the St. Hubert’s hound, Talbot hound and several types of Terriers. They have been carefully bred since the mid -19th century and used in packs to chase foxes with hunters following on horseback. They have impressive stamina and a good nose able to run steadily for hours at a time. They were bred for hunting, tracking, as a watchdog and agility.

Foxhounds are typical hounds, active, friendly, outgoing, needing company but once on a scent they are totally focused and deaf to their owners. They make great family dogs, enjoy human company and are good with children.
