Kerry Blue Terrier

About This Breed

The Kerry Blue Terrier origins can differ in what people say, it is probable that they have poodle and crosses of the Soft Wheaten Terrier and possibly the Bedlington Terrier behind them. They got their name from the Country Kerry in the southern Ireland, where farmers used them for hunting rodents and herding. They were also used for retrieving both on land and in water.

They are very high spirited and need firm but not harsh training from an early age and good socialization as well. They make a good companion and are protective of their family, so can be wary of strangers.
