About This Breed

The Tibetan Spaniel was kept by the Buddhists in the monasteries where they were trained for jobs like turning the prayer wheel or guarding. They make excellent family pets, and very much like to be part of the family. They are intelligent and easy to train. They can be aloof with strangers.

General Characteristics

Appearance: Small sized body. Skull slightly domed. Medium length of muzzle, blunt with cushioning, free from wrinkle, eyes dark brown. Ears medium size, pendant shaped that hang to the side of the head. Tail- set high, richly plumed and carried in a curl over back when moving.

Temperament: Assertive, highly intelligent, aloof with strangers.

Colour: Any colour or combinations.

Coat: Double coat- Undercoat fine and dense. Outer coat- silky in texture, medium length on body and smooth on face and front of legs. Bitches tend to carry less coat and mane than dogs.

Grooming: The long coat needs to be brushed regularly to avoid knots forming. Bath when needed.

Exercise: Regular walks and exercise.

Health:
