About This Breed

This breed can be traced back many years; these dogs were depicted in early Egyptian carvings. The word “greyhound” is believed to be a corruption of “great hound” or “gazehound”.

They were much sought after as a hunting dog. Their well-muscled bodies can propel then up to 70 km/h at full stretch, their streamlined movement is a joy to watch. These sight hounds are extremely good natured and gentle with both children and adults.

Greyhounds have the intelligence to use their own initiative; they sometimes ignore what they believe to be pointless commands. When this occurs people are wrong to think they are dumb. They make very loving pets.
