Working Dogs Quick to learn, intelligent, strong, watchful, and alert. Bred to assist their owners, in herding and/or protecting stock, sheep, goats, cattle. They are popular companions due to their trainability, but often too energetic for their owners. Pure instinct prompts many of these dogs to gently herd their owners, especially the children of the family. They can become boisterous and unruly if not given enough exercise or a job or kept mentally stimulated.
